Art Basel Miami 2017 - other events surrounding the main shows

I was lucky enough to have scored a few free tickets to cocktails and art shows going on at the same time as Art Basel Miami 2017 and took full advantage of all. There are always surprises during these outings. I found a work on paper by Brian Eno and found out that, not only is he a pioneer in electronic music, but also a very talented and accomplished visual artist.
Aqua was a bit of a letdown. Not worth the price of the ticket, except for the very last room which housed an incredibly talented Australian artist who does work in acrylic blocks.

Tuve  la gran suerte de haber conseguido entradas gratis a cocteles y muestras de arte que sucedieron simultáneamente con Art Basel Miami 2017 y aproveché todo. Siempre hay sorpresas durante estas salidas. Encontré una obra en papel realizada por Brian Eno y descubrí que él no solo es un pionero de la música electrónica, sino un artista visual muy talentoso.

Aqua fue una decepción. No valió el precio del boleto, excepto por la última habitación con una artista de Australia sumamente talentosa que hace obras de arte en bloques de acrílico.

This was the first time I visited Art Basel Miami and I was so extremely excited and even shed a few tears when I actually saw the artwork of Warhol and Helen Frankenthaler up close, because I never really thought this dream was going to coming true.The first tents I visited were Spectrum/Red Dot because I scored free tickets for the opening night. I made a mistake and looked very glamorous in a long black and flower patterned sheat dress with six shawls of various colors to keep out the unexpected chill but wore high heels, which soon enough caused some horrible blisters. The other mistake I made was not having any means to charge my iPhone, so when the battery died, so did my chances of taking photos! Anyway, the experience was above and beyond my wildest dreams. The only thing missing - which I thought was a given - were free drinks and hors d'oeuvres. I was really hungry by the time I had been there three hours!
A few days later I went to Scope, which blew my mind. I received more than my money's worth in the value and diversity of the amount of artwork I liked and which resonated with me, which made me incredibly happy!!! Walking around Scope I spotted Alberto Cavalieri, a well-known Venezuelan artist and we chatted for a few minutes.

Esta era la primera vez que visitaba Art Basel Miami y yo estaba tan extremadamente excitada e incluso derramé unas lágrimas cuando vi en persona las obras de Warhol y Helen Frankenthaler porque nunca pensé que este sueno se iba a convertir en una realidad.Los primeros eventos que visité fueron Spectrum/Red Dot debido a que recibí entradas gratis para la noche de la inauguración. Cometí el error de vestirme muy glamorosa en una vestido negro largo con flores y seis chales de diversos colores que causaron sensación porque una mujer se me acercó a preguntarme si era artista por la forma como estaba vestida. En realidad era para abrigarme del frio inesperado. El error fue ponerme zapatos de tacon alto que muy pronto me causaron horribles ampollas. El otro error que cometí fue no tener los medios para cargar mi iPhone, así que cuando se murió la batería ya no pude tomar más fotos! De todos modos, la experiencia estuvo más allá de mis más altas expectativas. Lo único que faltó y que yo pensaba era algo que siempre había fueron tragos gratis y pasapalos. Para el tiempo que pasé tres horas allí, tenía mucha hambre!
Unos días más tarde fui a Scope, y aluciné con lo que vi. Recibí mucho más que el valor de la entrada en cuanto a la calidad y la diversidad de las obras que me gustaron y que resonaron comigo, lo cual me hizo increiblemente feliz!!! Caminando por los pasillos de Scope, vi a Alberto Cavalieri, un artista venezolano muy reconocido y hablamos unos minutos.
